Where to park in Montmartre

Montmartre is recognised as Paris’ most famous district and, in fact, it is one of the most visited areas of the capital. Looking out over the city from the Montmartre hill, you can see a selection of museums and theatres such as the famous Moulin Rouge, Montmartre really is one of the city’s must-see places.

That’s all well and good, but where should you choose to park in Montmartre? Parclick makes it easy! There are three car parks, in particular, that we recommend:

  • Montmartre; north of the Butte Montmartre and Place du Tertre, about 6 minutes away from this cheap Paris car park.
  • Anvers-Montmartre; south of the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur and only a few minutes from the cable car which climbs Montmartre hill; very close to the Trianon, La Cigale and the Élysée Montmartre, on the Boulevard de Rochechouart.
  • If you are going to Moulin Rouge, we recommend Clichy Montmartre, which is open 24 hours a day, from where you can walk to the most famous cabaret in Paris.

Montmartre district

From the Sacré-Coeur de Montmartre to the Moulin Rouge

Montmartre is located in the north of Paris, near Gare du Nord and Gare Saint-Lazare, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, one of the most famous of the capital. The Basilique du Sacré-Coeur is on Montmartre hill and overlooks the rest of the city, most notably Louise-Michel square which lies at the foot of the hill.

However, although the Sacre-Coeur is the most famous monument in the area, it is far from being the only place worth visiting. On Montmartre hill, you can discover Saint-Pierre church, next to Calvaire cemetery, or various museums and galleries, such as Montmartre museum or l’Espace Dali. You could also take a look at Place du Tertre, in the middle of what used to be the centre of Montmartre, when it was a village.

Surely you know that Moulin Rouge is located close to Montmartre, but don’t think this cabaret is the only worthwhile one in this neighborhood. There are plenty of other theatres and shows you should see!

For example, you’ll find several venues on Boulevard de Rochechouart, such as La CigaleÉlysée-MontmartreLe Trianon, or the Boule Noir which are all inspired by nineteenth century cabarets.

If you want to go to a cabaret in Montmartre, you have plenty of famous options: Le Chat Noirle Lapin AgileMoulin de la Galette, or the cabaret of Patachou, where Georges Brassens started and where Edith Piaf sang for the last time in public.

But that's not all, take a look at the theatres of Montmartre and attend a quality performance of a different kind in one of the following venues:

  • Abbesses Theatre: Dedicated to dance and music.

  • Theatre of the Manufacture des Abbesses: To see contemporary theater.

  • Théâtre de l'Atelier: This Parisian theatre dates from the 19th century and is still in operation!

  • Funambule Montmartre: Opened in 1987, this small theater of a hundred seats offers mainly comedies and some plays of other genres.

  • Lepic Theatre: This is the former Ciné 13 Théâtre, where you can see pieces of various genres.

Want to make a cultural tour of Montmartre? Take the opportunity to visit its marvelous museums:

  • Montmartre Museum: To discover the history of the district.

  • Dalí Space: For fans of surrealism and mustaches of the twentieth century.

  • House of Dalida: Stop here to pay tribute to the famous French singer and actress Dalilda.

  • Erik Satie’s House: Do you know Gymnopédies by this pianist and composer? Regardless of your answer, you absolutely must listen to his music while strolling in Montmartre.

  • Museum of Naïve Art - Max Fourny - Halle Saint-Pierre: For those who love art that is crude and unrefined, singular and outsider. In short, for those who say, “I don’t like museums”. Well, you’ll like this one.

Last but not least, Montmartre boasts a vibrant culture. This include the Fête des vendanges de Montmartre, which takes place every autumn and attracts hundreds of thousands of people for several days.

To go to Montmartre by metro, you can take any of these lines and exit at one of the following stations, depending on where you want to go:

  • Metro 2: Place de Clichy, Blanche, Pigalle, Antwerp, Barbès - Rochechouart, Stalingrad, and La Chapelle.

  • Metro 4: Barbès - Rochechouart, Château Rouge, Marcadet - Poissonniers, Simplon, and Porte de Clignancourt.

Christine

Facile et pratique. Réservation en ligne rapide

Philippe

Totalement satisfait

Barnaby

The QR code has never worked in the many times we have parked here but the staff are helpful at sorting this out. Would be nice if you could fix this though as it is quite annoying. Lift is broken half the time.

La carte n'a jamais fonctionné à l'entrée du parking (elle était illisible).. J'ai du, tous les soirs me rendre à l'accueil pour la changer. Grace à la gentillesse et la professionalité de votre personnel, cette opération était toujours très rapide.
