Le Marais is a historic district in spreading over Paris’ 3rd and 4th arrondissements. It’s just north of the elegant Rue de Rivoli shopping boulevard and the Île de la Cité. Le Marais used to a swampland but soon became popular amongst the nobility, before it became one the hippest quarters in Paris.

An art lover? Be sure to check out the nearby Picasso Museum and the Centre Pompidou - but there’s not just the big dogs of art in Le Marais, you’ll be able to find smaller independent galleries. Pretty cool, right.
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, take a trip to the Place des Vosges, the oldest and most beautiful royal square in the city. Former hub of the Parisian nobility, now you can relax in the greenery! Not far from here, you can find Victor Hugo’s house as well as the beautiful Rue des Rosiers, in the heart of the Jewish Quarter.
Hungry? Well how about the best Falafel in Paris. it’s at the “L’as du Falafel”, but if the queue is too long, just next door there’s “Chez Marianne”, with falafels that are just as delicious.
Are you a shop-aholic? Then Le Marais is not to be missed, there’s the Village St. Paul, the Rue de Temple and the Rue des Archives with the BHV Marais. What you should know, on Saturdays shops are closed, but are open on Sundays instead!
More of a night owl? You shouldn’t miss out all the bars and the anything but dull nightlife! How about La Perle for a few cheap drinks? Or SenzSens or the Alcazar? Then end your night at the CAB or Le Rex Club.
How to get to Marais
Go to Marais by car:
Like we said before, we advise you to park around Marais, perhaps parking in Bastille or parking in Saint Michel. If you come by car but do not want to navigate the different districts of Paris, you can park in a car park slightly further away and take public transportation.
Go to Marais by metro:

Line 1: Going down to Town Hall, you will come across the South Marais stop (BHV Marais, Rue de Rivoli, Hôtel de Ville)

Line 11: Going down to Rambuteau, you will come across the North Marais stop (rue de Rambuteau, rue des Archives, Arts et Métiers)
Go to Marais by RER train:
- Take RER A, B, D to Châtelet - Les Halles and continue on foot to Rambuteau!
Go to Marais by bus:
- Grenier Saint-Lazare Station - Clock Tower on lines 38 and 75
- Archives - Rambuteau Station on line 29 (in front of George Pompidou Center!)
