The Comedie-Française de Paris

The Comédie-Français located in the Palais Royal, in the Salle Richelieu, right in the heart of Paris. Founded in 1680 by order of Louis XIV, the Théâtre-Français has a permanent troupe of actors: the troupe of the Comedians-Français. The Richelieu room can accommodate more than 800 spectators and has been used by the Comédie-Française since the 18th century. Before you go, you should know the Comedie-Française troupe’s motto - it’s Simul et singulis: "to be together and to be oneself". Nowadays, the troupe is made up of nearly sixty people. They normally put on performances from the greats such as Molière and Shakespeare.
