Car park near Gare de Lyon

Gare de Lyon

Regional or international - everyone can find the right train

The historic monument, the Gare de Lyon, is in the 12th arrondissment and is definitely one of the most beautiful railway stations in the city – of which there are quite a few! In terms of passengers it is in 3rd place, with more than 90,000,000 passing through each year, on the Parisian railway stations leader board. In addition to regional and international trains, such as the TGV, you can also take the RER, the Metro and various bus lines from the Gare de Lyon to get to all corners of the city. It even has a bit of business on the side as a film star. The most famous films it has featured in are: La Grande Vadrouille and Mr Bean’s Holiday.

Sounds promising, right?

One thing to be careful of though; it can be very difficult finding parking near the train station.

Parking in the streets of Paris is a stressful and time-consuming challenge, especially in the popular districts, which makes a lot of sense. At peak times, it is no fun at all, with the Gare de Lyon and the AccorHotels Arena right next door to each other, parking becomes an insurmountable task! If you need more convincing, be aware that staying time is limited to 2 hours for all visitors to the city so even if you do manage to find a spot you’ll have to be back to move it almost as soon as you’ve parked!
