Go for a stroll à la française

The Jardins de Luxembourg are arguably more Parisian than the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomph - it’s certainly been around for longer! The park is characterised by large green spaces, fountains and statues - it’s typically French, natural but in a beautifully ordered fashion - very chic!

It’s great for families as there’s loads for the children to do, you can find a large basin for sailing small boats, pony rides and puppet shows - or just big open spaces for them to play and have a picnic. If it’s hot, why not take shelter under the apple and pear trees in the south-west corner - sounds like something out of a painting right? 

The gardens is also home to the spectacular Palais du Luxembourg, and the Statue de la Liberté, which the Statue of Liberty was modelled from. But the highlight of these gardens has to be the Medici Fountain, built in 1630, it’s one of the park’s oldest attractions, although these gardens are undoubtedly French, you can see a little piece of Italy at the Medici Fountain - it’s got to be one of the best places to rest your weary feet in Paris. 

Be sure to see what’s going on at the Orangerie - where you can find art, music and sculptures, or perhaps see if there’s a concert going on in one of the garden’s bandstands. It’s just a great place to relax in the heart of Paris!

It’s great location also means it has great transport links: the RER Luxembourg stop is just metres from the gardens, and the Notre-Dame des Champs metro station  (line 12) is just 500 metres from the park too.
